Tony Dawson, Damon Jones was born. Javonte Green has had knee surgery

On this day in Boston Celtics history, small forward Tony Dawson was born in 1967 in Kinston, North Carolina. The brother of fellow NBA player Jerry Stackhouse, Dawson played his college basketball at Florida Gulf Coast Community College and Florida State University.

After going undrafted in the 1989 NBA draft, the former Seminole played overseas for several clubs as well as a few in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA – the equivalent of the G League at the time). He also had a short time with this group Sacramento Kings Before joining the Celtics in 1995.

Dawson played two games with Boston on a pair of 10-day deals before heading overseas again. In his short time with the team, he averaged 4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Today is the birthday of former Celtic guard Damon Jones. He was born in 1976 in Galveston, Texas.

Unselected in the 1997 NBA draft out of the University of Houston, Jones played in the CBA and other leagues before getting a shot with (then) New Jersey (now Brooklyn). laces In 1999.

Jones parlayed that opportunity into a pair of 10-day, one-season deals with the Celtics, appearing in 13 games in which he averaged 5.8 points, 2.4 boards and 2.2 assists.

He left the team for the destination Golden State Warriors in free agency that summer.

Finally, it’s the anniversary of reserve wing Javonte Green’s 2020 arthroscopic surgery on a small meniscus tear in his right knee, according to the team’s press release.

He did not play again that season, instead playing for the Celtics at the start of the 2020-2020 season.
