Southampton striker Nathan Tela has joined the Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in a deal reported to be worth £20m.
The 24-year-old shone with Burnley on loan last season, scoring 19 goals as the Clarets won the Championship title.
He signed a five-year contract with the German club.
Southampton said: “Despite the disappointment of losing such a talented local player and popular figure, the club felt the offer represented fair value.”
“Many young players in the Premier League got a chance in the Bundesliga and managed to improve significantly here,” Tella told Leverkusen’s website.
“This is an impressive team that reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season. I really want to continue on this path with Bayer 04.”
Teela spent six years with the Saints after joining the academy Arsenal when he was 17 years old.
He has featured three times in the tournament this season, scoring once, but was left out of the squad on Saturday 2-1 win at Queens Park Rangers.
