MONROE – St. Mary Catholic Central opened its girls golf season by taking second Monday in the Airport Match-Play tournament at Sandy Creek.
The Kestrels shot 76 to finish three behind champion Woodhaven.
Gibraltar Carlson was third with 51 and Airport fourth with 34.
Tori Busen and Elizabeth Zwack combined for 33 to lead SMCC, Ana Cuccia-Aliana Willie checked in at 26 and Nora Kinsey-Maddie Gessner 17.
Andria Konczal and Maddie Peterson of Carlson shot 34, one shy of the best in the tournament. Sophie Bucki and Olivia Tilley finished with 23 for the airport.
GOLF
Hole-in-one for Depew
Greg Depew shot his first hole-in-one Saturday, acing the 203-yard No. 13 hole at Green Meadows Golf Club with a 3-iron.
Rice Aces Giant Oak
DISTANCE – David Rice used a pitching wedge to score a hole-in-one on the 94-yard No. 15 hole at Giant Oak Golf Club.
Scott gets the first ace
BROOKLYN – Anne Scott of Monroe shot her first hole-in-one recently at Hills Heart of the Lakes Golf Course.
She used a 7-iron to ace the 100-yard No. 11 hole.
No. 17 reached twice
TEMPPERANCE – Ray Ferguson and Danny Fugate both recently shot a hole-in-one on the 138-yard No. 17 hole at Giant Oak Golf Club.
Ferguson used an 8 iron and Fugate did it with a 9 iron.
