Ange Postecoglou speaks with TNT Sports

Everything is amplified and turbocharged, but it’s still football.

It’s a cliché, but it’s a fresh start for everyone. We hope you pass that on to the players and make them open their eyes.

A good idea came to me after the first conversation with Harry [Kane]. I felt he needed a new challenge.

And most of all, a little bit of coherence, it’s still very early days. I thought today with the way the players finished the game, that a little bit of fluency would help us.

Bill Foley, owner of Bournemouth FC, speaking to TNT Sports

We love Gary O’Neal. He kept us up, he did a great job. We thought if we wanted to change the look of the team, the way we play football, we’d need someone new.

I honestly thought Gary would be our manager until Iraulo became available in May.

Andone is a very aggressive player. We’ll press all the time. I think you will see a difference today in our team.

Maddison will not get the chance to play with Kane at Tottenham, but he is already enjoying life under Ange Postecoglou.

If there was a signing that makes a statement about how the team hopes to develop, especially after leaving such a huge hole in the squad, it might be James Maddison to Tottenham Hotspur.

No one can realistically hope to replace him Harry Kane – ‘the best No. 9 in the world’ according to Maddison – but the need to somehow mitigate the loss of 30 goals per season was certainly under consideration long before negotiations with Bayern Munich Finally completed.

This new culture that they are trying to build is amazing. I am so excited to be joining the team.

I think I will bring a little bit of perseverance to the team.

I’m so close, in a few weeks I’d say. After the international break, my view of the matches will be.

Good morning

Hello, and welcome to Telegraph Sport’s live coverage of Tottenham’s visit to Bournemouth in the first six Premier League matches today.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has backed striker Richarlison to find the net regularly this season, despite the Brazil international’s struggles in front of goal so far in the new campaign.

Richarlison, who has scored three goals and recorded four assists in 37 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham since joining from everton In July last year, he couldn’t find the net this season.

The 26-year-old is signed for around £50m plus another £10m in add-ons.

“I’m sure Ricci wants to score goals, but the most important thing for me is how he contributes to our preparation and I think he did really well last weekend,” Postecoglou said.

He added, “From my point of view, this is the main thing, and I am sure that the goals will come, but there is no point in scoring goals if the team is not performing well.”

“I don’t know that there is a lot of burden that I have to carry. At the end of the day, this football club needed to change.

“I think everyone at the club should realize that Harry is gone. He’s gone into a new challenge, and I’m sure he’ll do very well there. We have our own challenge now.

“I don’t think there’s any point in comparing yourself to something that no longer exists and is no longer relevant. It would be different if it was against the backdrop of a successful era.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola revealed the new signings of Tyler Adams and Alex Scott “Not Close” to debuting.

US captain Adams left Leeds to sign a five-year contract last weekend after being linked with Chelsea and Liverpool.

Adams’ arrival follows that of England Under-20 international Scott from Bristol City, but Iraola says he does not expect to see the two new midfielders anytime soon due to injury.

“I think we’re not close. They need time,” Iraola said ahead of Bournemouth’s home game with Tottenham on Saturday.

“The club has signed players knowing they will miss some games and I think Tyler should be in earlier than Alex.

“But he’s a player who hasn’t played I think since March. He’s coming from surgery and he’s been in difficult situations in this period so we can’t rush into it.

“We have to make sure that he feels safe too and that he does all the steps before starting with us.

“It is possible that Alex will be the one who will be spending more time abroad. But neither of them are close to a match at the moment.”
