Hazan told SNY that Giles chose Brooklyn over two other suitors who were very interested in the big man.

Hazan told SNY that the Nets showed interest in Giles during the offseason. They were among a large group of teams that Giles III was working against.

Giles should have a chance to earn a spot on Brooklyn’s roster. The notes seem to need depth in the front line. They have four players on the roster listed at 6-foot-10 and taller: Ben Simmons, Nick Claxton, Dee Ron Sharp and novice Noah Clooney. Simmons is expected to play guard this season.

Giles’ contract details are not known. The Giles are eligible for a two-way contract and the Nets have an open two-way spot. They have 15 players on NBA trades (the maximum allowed during the regular season.

Giles, 25, recently worked with it Golden State Warriors August 8.

His final season was the 2021-22 campaign with the Agua Caliente Clippers Los Angeles Clippers. On January 23, 2022, he suffered a season-ending injury and was waived by the Clippers.

The 2020-21 Gaels season came with this Portland Trail Blazers. In 38 games, Giles averaged 2.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 9.8 minutes.

From 2018 to 2020 with the Sacramento Kings, Giles averaged seven points and 3.9 rebounds in 14.3 minutes in 17 of 104 games started. The Kings selected Gilles from Duke with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
