Newark Catholic, Lakewood win girls golf titles

The Newark Catholic and Lakewood girls golf teams each won championships Monday.

Caylee Lattimer took medalist honors, leading the Green Wave to the title during the Logan Invitational at Hocking Hills Golf Course. Natalie Holsky added a third-place finish.

The Lancers won the Muskie Invitational, which was shortened to 14 holes because of rain. Avery Thompson, Lexi French and Lauren Griffith all placed in the top 10.

Licking Valley took runner-up in the 12-team event. Jacqueline Gieseler, Sylvie Devore and Allie Pettet led the Panthers in the top 10.

Watkins Memorial’s Gracie James fired a 69 to take medalist honors during the Lady Lion Invitational at The Links at Echo Springs.

BOYS GOLF

Sullivan leads NC

Brogan Sullivan shot 71 to lead the host Green Wave to a runner-up finish during the Newark Catholic Invitational at Moundbuilders Country Club.

Sullivan finished only behind a 66 from Cody Widener, of Pickerington Central, in the individual standings. The Green Wave’s 304 as a team finished just behind champion Cincinnati St. Xavier’s 302.

Also scoring for NC were Bobby Kieber at 76, Brian Luft 78 and Nathan Riggleman 79.

Shooting 80 were Licking Valley’s Shea Lesko and Watkins Memorial’s Christian Cave, 81 were NC’s Max Vanoy, Granville’s Sam Pfau and Johnstown’s Will Taylor and Braeden Archibald, 82 were NC’s Carter Hahn and Heath’s Keenan Kelly and 83 were Granville’s Alex Organ and Utica’s Jaxson Riggs.
