Former Steelers guard Kevin Dotson speaks after his trade to the Rams

The writing was on the wall for kevin dotson all offseason after Pittsburgh Steelers added guards Isaac Seumalo and Nate Herbig in free agency. Surely his days were numbered. It was just a matter of when and how. Would they let him out of the final year of his contract buried in the depth charge or release or trade him?

That answer came on August 27 when Dotson was scrapped toward Los Angeles Rams for an exchange of selections.

But there is no ill will.

His former team emerged when talking to the media for the first time as a member of the Rams.

“Everybody on the Steelers will vouch for me knowing that I’m a good guy, so I try to bring that energy here as well,” Dotson said.

Getting replaced and then traded can deflate anyone’s ego, but he knows it’s business and remains confident in his ability to help Los Angeles.

“I know what I am capable of. I knew the Steelers knew what he was capable of, but, you know, it’s a business, you have to do what you have to do to be great, so they did what they had to do.”

Sometimes players just need a change of scenery to rejuvenate their career. Although Dotson is slated to back up the rookie left guard Steve Avilayou have fewer obstacles to overcome to gain game time.
