Police were called after Graham was seen acting erratically near a resort, and upon arriving at the scene, the tight end resisted arrest. Graham was charged with suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, resisting, delaying and obstructing a police officer. Since then, he has been released. Graham and the Saints are in Southern California preparing to take over. Los Angeles Chargers in a preseason game.
Not long after the initial report appeared, the New Orleans Saints issued a statement regarding Graham’s behavior, stating that the incident was caused by a medical episode:
New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham experienced a medical episode last night, causing him to become disoriented. He was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation of what Dr. John Amoss believes to be a possible seizure and spent the night under medical supervision and testing. Amoss met Graham at the hospital and is overseeing his care at this time. He was released this morning and is with the team as preparations continue for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Graham re-signed with the Saints this offseason after not playing through the 2022 season. He spent 2020 and 2021 with the Bears when he signed a two-year deal worth $16 million. Graham caught 64 passes for 623 yards and 11 touchdowns during his two years in Chicago. The 36-year-old began his career in New Orleans in 2010, spending five seasons with the Saints before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2015. Graham also spent time with the Green Bay Packers.
