Deion Jones on signing with Panthers: Everything just made sense

Like his game, Deion Jones was fast and right to the point after his first practice in Spartanburg.

The new Carolina Panthers linebacker spoke to reporters late Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after inking on with the team. When asked why he signed on the dotted line, the former Pro Bowler said he felt the fit.

“Man, everything just made sense,” he replied. “They made me feel welcome. Giving me an opportunity. And, like I said, just ready to get back to ball. Get back playin’. Get back flyin’ around.”

The Panthers watched Jones fly around in the NFC South for six seasons as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Headlined by that 2017 Pro Bowl campaign, he posted 652 tackles and a whopping 11 interceptions during his initial run in the NFC South.

Jones would go on to expand (just a tiny bit) about why he returned to the division.

“Like I said—coaching staff, team, the way they made me feel welcome, seem like a good locker room. And like I said, I’m tryin’ to fit in where I could fit in.”
