Cooper Flagg’s buzzer beat was another crazy moment for the HS star

Much has been written about the skills of Cooper Flagg, the star of the Class of 20024. He can reach the rim. He can shoot. He can dribble. He defends well and talks his trash.

A video was released Saturday night that shows another feature of the five-star high school forward. He has a step back and ice in his veins.

Flagg hit a step-back 3-pointer at the SLAM Summer Classic to tie the score at 142 (!) and send the game into overtime. He was attacked by teammates and fans while the announcers in the clips were released on Twitter by the NBA.

You can see more highlights on the NBA’s YouTube page, including a fun alley-oop in the first clip (don’t expect a lot of tough defense in these clips, if 142 points didn’t worry you already).

Flagg helped his team win in overtime.

Recruiting for the No. 1 player in the class of 2024 continues, as dozens of schools have offered the 6-foot-8 power forward. It’s unclear who’s the frontrunner for the player who was classified just this month from the 2025 class, but if you’re looking for indicators you can get, Duke tweeted a video of Flagg. Which may not mean much, but we appreciate the lack of subtlety in place of the cryptic messages that recruiters and players usually enjoy using.
