Bears will release Nathan Peterman, leaving Tyson Bagent as QB number 2

undrafted rookie tyson bagent appears to have earned the No. 2 quarterback job in Chicago.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports the Bears are releasing Nathan Petermann. They previously released PJ Walkerwhich leaves Bagent as the only quarterback on the roster behind justin fields.

Peterman can re-sign with the Bears’ practice squad and could return to the active roster once the team makes other roster moves in the coming days.

For now, though, Bagent stands as one of the most unlikely success stories of the 2023 preseason. Bagent went undrafted in the Division II draft out of Shepherd University and wasn’t on many radars before a series of Good performances would open the door for him to move up the depth chart this month.
